Black History Month in Hollywood, South Carolina

The Town of Hollywood is a small town outside of Charleston South Carolina. In my senior year, I had the pleasure of covering their Black History Month Celebration as a photojournalist. The celebration included a parade that anyone in the town could join, a DJ, live performers, and awards presented by Hollywood’s mayor, Chardale Murray. My favorite part of this event, what I aimed to capture in the photos, was the love and strength among the community. Everyone in the town knew one another and would run up to their friends or family to say hi during the parade. The Hollywood locals were beyond welcoming, asking me questions about my major and hoping to get to know me better. I was grateful to experience a town that has so much passion for its people.
